El Pollo Loco has expanded their menus and added burritos and salads and other items to keep up with other competitors, Taco Bell, Del Taco and other Mexican-style restaurants. Headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, the chain expanded over northern Mexico, followed by the first U.S. restaurant in Los Angeles, California in 1980, and in the Southwest and other states afterwards.
